Water concerns abound. Even in the western world, our management of the world’s most essential resource is a growing concern – as it should be! We hear talk of deficiencies, indication of reservoirs and aquifers drying up, and, of course, plenty of people who simply don’t know or don’t care. But forget about us.
Most of us have never really been thirsty. When was the last time you had to your home to walk 5 miles to fetch water? We take for granted that when we turn on the tap, water will come out. Clean. Yet one billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean water.
It’s hard to imagine that many people without clean water. That’s one out of every eight on the planet. One in eight of us don’t have access to the most basic of human needs. Can you imagine going 12 hours without clean water?
Here, we’d like to give you a chance to meet a few of those people. Look into their faces. See that they are real. Know that they could use your help. Did they choose to be born a village where the only water comes from a polluted swamp? Did you choose to be born in a country where everyone has access to clean water and a toilet?
We invite you to put yourself in their shoes for a moment. Think about their way of life. With the eyes of your mind follow them as they walk 10 miles bare-footed just to find water for that day. Watch them as they stumble under the weight of an 80 pound fuel can filled with dirty water. Imagine their children in digging in polluted sand looking for something to drink. Look on as they patiently wait 8 hours in the line at the water hole for their turn. See them as they give their kids a drink from a bucket of dark brown water. View them from the comfort of your clean, safe home as they suffer and die from horrific water-borne diseases. Imagine the stress and frustration of a life such as this.
You can help. A simple decision to support the water relief effort will make a lasting difference in the lives of people just like you and me.
Make a decision to help. We are offering simple solutions to help. We are drilling fresh water wells that access the wealth of clean water that freely flows in the aquifers 500-600 feet below the surface of the ground.
$10 can provide clean, safe drinking water to 1 person for 20 years. That’s astonishing! For as little as $10 a person we can provide life to millions of people for years to come.
Start by helping one.
